Subject: Child Support/court ordered visitation

My ex and I have come to an
impasse when it comes to visitation arrangements. We have been able to handle our differences for the last 12 years but now we need a mediators assistance and or a court order. She lives in San Bernardino County with our daughter. I live in Palm Springs area (Riverside County). Where would I need to file for support and
visitation rights? If I need to file in San Bernardino, do I go to main branch or
to Victorville branch.

Are there any cases between you and the other parent?  Are you or were you
married?

No cases..but we were divorced about 10 years ago...we have had an amicable
relationship, mostly because my current wife and I are pretty laid back and try
to keep things stable for our 12 year old daughter.
But its been 3 or 4 years since my daughter has spent holidays with us and we
feel as if we don't have a choice other than to get a  court order to get
consistency and fairness in time spent with each parent.
If you're thinking that this is minor and that we should be able to work things
out amicably like adults, then you are 100 percent correct.
However, my ex is borderline AND bi-polar. So, until she gets help we have no
choice but to try this option, unfortunately. I know, TMI.
Thanks, Joe

What we were trying to determine is whether there was an existing case-we need
to know this before trying to answer your question of where to file.    You
mention a divorce;  if you file for visitation orders, you will file at the
courthouse where the divorce took place, using that case number.  Forms with
samples  are available at our Self Help Centers.
